Starfield is Bethesda’s newest hotness, and now that it’s finally out in the wild, it’s safe to expect news on The Elder Scrolls VI at last. While some always feel that gaming is the best way to go, we know that it should not be expected for another two-three years.
Each edge, As part of Microsoft’s ongoing case against the FTC over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft released a document to the court that contained a chart detailing the way Bethesda would release games after buying the publisher. It lists every title released under the Microsoft banner with details such as its release window and targeted platforms.
Section VI of the Elder Scrolls confirms two big things. For one, it’s definitely not coming to PlayStation (which we already assumed based on previous statements from Xbox head Phil Spencer) and is listed as launching for Xbox and PC. Two, the game is expected to arrive in “2026 or later.”

However, according to AxiosStephen Totillo, Spencer said during his testimony that TES VI is at least five years old and platforms are “technically TBD”.

The Elder Scrolls VI was first revealed during E3 2018. The game had not yet entered production at the time of its announcement, and no details about the game were released for the next five years. In 2021, Bethesda studio head Todd Howard provided an update The Telegraph By saying that the game is still in the design phase and it decided to announce it early to allay concerns that the studio was abandoning single-player experiences in the wake of Fallout 76 and EA’s push for live-service games at the time.
While it’s wise not to expect substantial news on The Elder Scrolls VI in the near future, it’s good (or frustrating) to have a good idea of when to start getting excited about it.
