Darkest Dungeon 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed Darkest Dungeon, which was released back in 2016. It shares many similarities with its predecessor but does make some changes and additions. This can be seen throughout the game as well as some familiar things. One that fits into both of these categories is the available characters in Darkest Dungeon 2.

All Characters in Darkest Dungeon 2 and How to Unlock Them

In total, there are twelve characters to choose from in the early access build in Darkest Dungeon 2. Of these nine, players only have four to choose from. Before starting a run, players must select four characters to place into their team and in which spot they will go. You can see all nine characters in Darkest Dungeon below.

Red Hook Games intends to add more new characters as the game progresses through early access. Once you have all characters available, building a mix of offense, defense, and support is the strategy you should aim for. Additionally, while some characters perform well in any position, try to keep your support in the backline and defense in the front line.

How can I play with the Bounty Hunter in Darkest Dungeon 2?

You can play with the Bounty Hunter in Darkest Dungeon 2 by recruiting him from the Inn. Look above where your party is sitting at the Inn; look for the Bounty Hunter’s poster hanging from the wall. If you see the poster, click it, and you will hire the Bounty Hunter in exchange for four Candles. He will follow your party on the next run, changing places with a single hero of your choice.

Can I play with the Crusader in Darkest Dungeon 2?

Unfortunately, you cannot play with the Crusader in Darkest Dungeon II at this time. Crusader was my favorite character in the first part of the game due to their flexibility, and I was very disappointed to see him missing from the final character roster. We can hope that Red Hook Studios will include him as a part of the DLC expansion in the future.
