Demonschool launches on September 13 – Gematsu

School Life Strategy RPG demon school will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and on September 13, publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Necrosoft Games announced.

“We wanted to encourage experimentation in demon school, including the ability to undo moves or redo an entire turn from scratch, providing freedom to play with different mechanics and abilities for maximum punishment,” Necrosoft Games creative director Brandon Sheffield said in a press release. “We’re excited to see new ideas that we hadn’t even thought of implementing on the battlefield!”

Here’s an overview of the game, via Ysbryd Games:

Survive a semester of screaming as college freshman Faye, the last heir to the last demon-hunting family. Arriving at a mysterious university on an island, she finds supernatural research in her syllabus. With new allies at her side, she fights imps, demons, and class discussion forums, and closes the gap between worlds before it’s too late.

Form a demon-destroying battle party by befriending (or romancing!) 15 different playable characters, each with a different set of skills. Use Knute to heal your friends and cure poisons, or summon Destin to drive enemies as far away as possible with the strength of his shorts. Carefully balance class schedules, combat training, side quests, extracurricular activities, and more to improve your classmates’ skills while acing midterms.

Prepare group moves in the planning phase, consciously placing your classmates in advantageous positions to use their strengths. Set or rewind moves to create the perfect spin, then confirm your intentions with the Action phase to see attacks, heals, and attack combos unfold simultaneously.

2D and 3D art collide in a chess-like purgatory filled with macabre monsters and intense boss battles. Face horrific demons inspired by Japanese horror manga and Italian horror cinema from the 60s and 70s. Strategize tactical gameplay influenced by Into the Breach and painted in the tones of JRPG classics like Shin Megami Tensei and Person.
