Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG will go live in just a few hours after Downtime is complete and will take players back to the 2018 Chapter 1 map with throwback weapons, loot, vehicles and more. While this is technically Season 5 of Fortnite Chapter 4, following the previous Last Resort season, developer Epic Games is calling it Season OG, and it makes sense considering how much Fortnite 2018 is showing up.
The throwback nostalgia continues throughout the season as each new update brings a different phase of Fortnite Chapter 1, starting with Season 5. That means weapons like assault rifles and pump shotguns and vehicles like shopping carts will appear in both. Zero Build and Normal Battle Royale Fortnite.
Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG
While each of the updates listed below bring new weapons and more to Season OG, all based on previous Chapter 1 seasons, Epic says some unvaulted gear will remain throughout the updates and others will remain for that update. Below is the unfolding part:
Season 5: The Return of Tilted, Greasy and Risky
Chapter 1: First released during Season 2, Tilted Towers is a topic of interest on the island, which will last until Season OG’s Season 9 update. Along with the Tilted Towers, Epic has added back all the terrain carts, other vehicles, and some traps from the original Season 5 of Chapter 1. This includes Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun and Hunting Rifles. Damage Trap, Grappler, and Boogie Bomb are now unvaulted, as are the aforementioned ATKs and Shopping Carts.
Season 6: Darkness Rises in Loot Lake
After the v27.00 update goes live on November 9, players will find that darkness has increased in Loot Lake, bringing with it weapons from Fortnite Chapter 1: Season 6 such as the Double Barrel Shotgun, Clinger, and Six Shooter. Plus, the Quadcrusher, Mounted Turret and more return, along with the Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress (note: Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress are absent in Zero Build mods). And finally, the driftboard makes its way to this island with this update.
Seasons 7 and 8: Chill and Treasure
Update v27.10 Chapter 1: Season 7 and Season 8 will both start from November 16 after it goes live. It brings a snow biome, frosty fligits, pirate camps, swashbuckling gear and more. Weapons include a flint-knock pistol, a minigun and a quad launcher. Other items are Poison Dart Trap, Itemized Glider Redeploy, and Buried Treasure (Poison Dart Trap is absent in Zero Build). On the vehicle front, players can use the X-4 Storming, and if you’re struggling to take it down, try the Pirate Cannon which lets you launch teammates into the air.
Season 9 and X: Blast Off!
On November 23rd, update v27.11 will go live and it will celebrate Fortnite Chapter 1: Season 9 and Season X. Accordingly, weapons such as Heavy Sniper Rifle hit the island along with Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike and other loot. Junk Rift. Additionally, this update adds Storm Flip and Jetpack to the mix as well as The Baller.
Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG Battle Pass and Item Shop
“Time-traveling, turbo-speeding OG Season means the all-new OG Pass,” writes Epic in a press release. “Packed with over 50 new in-game items, you can unlock all cosmetic rewards in just four weeks on the OG Pass. The OG Pass can be purchased for 950 V-Bucks, but you can earn 1000 V-Bucks through progression on the OG Pass. Fortnite Staff Subscriber? OG The pass is included as part of the Fortnite Staff subscription.”
In the OG Item Shop, Epic says to expect a curated selection of classic, mashup, and new items. OG Item Shop clothing and accessories are available for a limited time only, and new items appear as usual every day at 7 pm ET.

Fortnite Chapter 4: Season and Ranking
As usual with a new season, your ranks are reset in Chapter 4: Season OG. You only need to play one ranked match to reveal your rank; Your performance in your first match does not determine your initial rank placement, but it does reveal your rank and update your progress bar based on your performance in that particular match. Epic warns that it will take some time to adjust to a higher tier, especially if you’ve previously been on a lower tier.
“Fortnite OG With a short season, tier progression is fast enough to accommodate high and mid tiers,” Epic writes in a press release. “Players will be penalized less for dropping out early in a match and will have a slightly faster increase to their rank progress bar. In addition, we’ve made progression faster for players in bronze ranks, so friends who queue together across ranks will see more. Continuous progression.”
When you jump off the Battle Bus in a Ranked match, you are awarded a Ranked Urgent Quest. By completing a certain amount of ranked emergency quests, you’ll unlock special in-game rewards. Complete just one ranked emergency quest during Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG to unlock the Chapter 1-inspired rank tags back bling pictured below. It displays the highest grade of color you have reached this season.
