Aaron Greenberg, vice president of Xbox Game Marketing, recently took to Twitter to announce that Hi-Fi Rush has become a “huge hit” for the platform. This statement comes in response to previous rumors indicating that the game underperformed despite receiving positive reviews and generating significant buzz.

Read Greenberg’s tweet“Hi-Fi RUSH has been a huge success for us and our players in all major measurements and expectations. We couldn’t be happier with what the Tango Gameworks team has delivered with this surprise release.”

Hi-Fi Rush was unexpectedly revealed and launched during the Developer Direct event in January by Microsoft. The surprising strategy was welcomed at the time, though The Xbox Marketing Director noted It will not be suitable for every game.

Developed by Tango Gameworks, the same studio behind The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush is a unique action game where characters, the world, and combat are synced to the music. Players control Chai, a wannabe rock star who leads a group of allies in a rebellion against an evil robot improvement corporation through intense rhythm combat. Chai’s heart is accidentally combined with a music player in a corporate experiment gone wrong, and he must now fight for his freedom in a vibrant, animated world.

In Hi-Fi Rush, players engage in rhythm battles against corporate drones, using timed moves to perform powerful strikes, special abilities, and combination attacks with their allies. S rank scores can be obtained by utilizing the rhythm and amplifying the player’s skills. Chai and his team face off against bosses from various departments of the heartless company, including production, marketing, and finance, with each battle featuring unique pieces of music.

The game features a compelling mix of original music, as well as songs by Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, The Joy Formidable, and more.
