Taraxippos is a Legendary Scout Rifle added in the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023, and its 200RPM fire speed and Lightweight Frame Archetype make it a popular contender in both PvE and PvP. Here’s how to get Taraxippos in Destiny 2.
Where to get Taraxippos in Destiny 2
The Legendary Scout Rifle, named after a spirit in Greek mythology that got its kicks out of scaring horses during the ancient Olympic Games, is obtained through the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023. At the time of writing, we don’t know the exact method of getting it and won’t until the event starts on May 2, 2023.
The 2022 Guardian Games’ Legendary weapon was The Title Submachine Gun and was earned as a random drop when turning in Medallions, so we assume that the method for getting Taraxippos will be similar this year. We’ll update this guide once we receive confirmation.
Taraxippos PvE and PvP God Rolls in Destiny 2
You’ll want to grind out as many Taraxippos as possible to increase your odds of obtaining a God Roll drop. And depending on what your intended use is for the weapon will determine which God Roll you go for: PvE or PvP. I personally play a lot of Competitive PvP, so I’ll be going for a roll with Explosive Payload to create an AoE and hopefully kill two birds with one stone—or two Guardians with one bullet.

Taraxippos PvE God Roll in Destiny 2
Here’s our recommended PvE God Roll for Taraxippos in Destiny 2:
- Barrel: Polygonal Rifling—Increases stability (+10 Stability).
- Magazine: Tactical Mag—Increases stability, reload speed, and magazine size (+5 Stability, +10 Magazine, +10 Reload Speed).
- Trait #1: Fourth Times the Charm—Rapidly landing four precision hits adds two bullets to the magazine. The counter resets if no precision kills happen in two seconds.
- Trait #2: Hatchling—Precision final blows or rapidly defeating enemies with a non-precision weapon spawns a Threadling at the target’s location.
Taraxippos PvP God Roll in Destiny 2
Here’s our recommended PvP God Roll for Taraxippos in Destiny 2:
- Barrel: Polygonal Rifling—Increases stability (+10 Stability).
- Magazine: Accuruzed Rounds—Increases range (Range +10).
- Trait #1: Zen Moment—Reduces recoil and flinch the more damage you deal. Certain weapons stack. Does the following for one second after a hit:
- Reduces recoil.
- Adds Flinch resistance.
- Reduces weapon shake.
- Removes reticle bounce.
- Trait #2: Explosive Payload—Projectiles create an area-of-effect detonation on impact.
