One of the greatest delights in any Pokemon game is meeting a shiny Pokemon for the first time. In the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, that feeling is no different. With over 100 new Pokémon added to this installment, getting a shiny one may seem impossible. Fortunately, an item has been introduced that can improve your chances of finding them: the shiny charm. Unfortunately, you can’t get this item until you’ve completed the one thing the entire Pokemon franchise is known for. You have to catch them all.
Once you fill your entire Pokédex with Paldean, you can talk to teacher jacq back to Orange Academy. He will congratulate you on your efforts by gifting you both your diploma and the Shiny Charm!

How much does the shiny charm increase your chances of finding shinies in pokemon scarlet and violet?
While some may disagree, finding a shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet isn’t as difficult as it seems. Unlike some previous installments, you can physically see that a Pokémon is shiny before you even engage it in battle. Given that, the odds of finding a shiny Pokémon in the wild or through breeding are about 1/4000, according to Professor Jacq himself. Once you’ve received the glowing charm, those chances increase to about 1/2000, which is about half!
