A British court sentenced a Leeds United fan to prison on charges of assaulting Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe during a match between the two teams at Elland Road.
David Derbyshire, 35, of Marley Road, Beeston, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and given a six-year football ban at Leeds Magistrates’ Court.
Derbyshire entered the technical area next to Newcastle’s stadium before paying Howe in stoppage time after 90 minutes on May 13 this year.
The Leeds fan was then escorted away by security. Leeds United later banned him for life for the assault, which occurred at the club’s stadium.
