LEGO and 2K Games are teaming up for a new series of sports video game titles.

According to VGC, the toy company is hoping to solidify its place within the growing video game market through a multi-game partnership. The first title will be a LEGO soccer game by Sumo Digital and is scheduled to be released on a date coinciding with the FIFA World Cup. An open-world racer developed by 2K subsidiary Visual Concepts is set to follow, with plans for a launch sometime in 2023. There will reportedly be a third LEGO title based on a major sports franchise, though no details concerning its developer or release date were given. An insider suggested the three games might also feature guest characters from LEGO’s many collaborations with popular IPs, such as Harry Potter and Indiana Jones.

At the time of this writing, none of the studios have confirmed the rumors of a LEGO partnership. A spokesperson for LEGO similarly declined to “comment on speculation about future products or partnerships.”

LEGO video games were previously under the oversight of developer TT Games, the subsidiary studio of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment responsible for beloved classics like the LEGO Star Wars series. Though its titles were successful, relations allegedly took a sour turn when previous employees of TT Games reported the company’s harsh crunch culture, leading to LEGO’s reevaluation of its 15-year partnership with the UK-based developer. If rumors are to be believed, LEGO does not intend to continue the exclusivity deal beyond the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It’s unclear if LEGO plans to exclude TT Games from working on future titles.

There are also sources claiming TT Games will have another LEGO title beyond The Skywalker Saga, coinciding with reports about the development of a possible LEGO Doctor Who game. Rumors claim the game will include every known version of the renegade Time Lord, along with an iteration of the Doctor that has yet to make an official appearance. The game’s level design will similarly be inspired by its source material, with stages based around Victorian England and other locales from the show.

No release dates for the three rumored LEGO sports games have been confirmed. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga launches on April 5 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
