The soon-to-be-released supernatural horror movie Five Nights at Freddy’s has revealed four new posters featuring the unsettling animated characters who will haunt Freddy Fazbear’s pizza. Directed by Emma Tammy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Cawthon and Seth Kodback, the film is based on the video game franchise of the same name, designed and developed by Cawthon.

The cast includes notable actors such as Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Mary Stuart Masterson, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, and Elizabeth Lail. The film’s development journey, which began in April 2015 with Warner Bros. Pictures, and the signing of director Gil Kenan, experienced several delays before Warner Bros. placed a film on the film. The project is in transition, resulting in Keenan’s departure.

In March 2017, Blumhouse Productions took over production. Chris Columbus was initially set to write and direct in February 2018, but eventually left the project. Tammy assumed the role of director and co-writer in October 2022. Principal photography on the film began in New Orleans in February 2023, and ended on April 3 of the same year.

The film’s official description reads the plot: “A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, only to discover that surviving the night shift will be more difficult than expected.”

A recent leak revealed the first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s, albeit in poor quality. Posters indicate that the film will retain key elements from the game, such as the terrifying animatronics and the basic concept of enduring a night of mayhem at a family-friendly pizzeria.

The current trend in successful video game adaptations is raising hopes for the film’s potential success, as Hollywood seems to have found the formula for creating films that please fans without alienating general audiences. It remains to be seen if Five Nights at Freddy’s will join the ranks of these successful adaptations.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is slated for a simultaneous theatrical and Peacock release in the United States by Universal Pictures on October 27, 2023.
