Nintendo is a fan of consistently airing Nintendo Directs in September, with regular September Directs being some of the most exciting of the year. And the company will continue that streak into 2023, as Nintendo Direct announced that it will go live tomorrow, September 14th.
The company revealed this on Twitter today, saying it will go live on September 14 at 7 am PT/10 am ET for “approximately 40” minutes.
As for what to expect, there are a lot of unknowns floating around in this direct. Super Mario Bros. is Wonder’s biggest upcoming release from Nintendo, but it got its own dedicated stream last month. That’s exactly what we learned that Nintendo is releasing a new Mario Red OLED Switch.
Detective Pikachu Returns is another big Switch exclusive releasing next month, and we’re likely to see more during this direct. We went hands-on with it last week and you can read our thoughts on it here. There’s still plenty coming to the Switch in the last few months of 2023, but admittedly, exclusives are scarce. September Directs from Nintendo usually give gamers a glimpse into the year ahead so we hope to learn more about the company’s 2024 plans. Considering “this winter” drops to next year, it seems we’ll learn more about the early months of 2024.
On that note, Nintendo reportedly demoed the Switch successor to developers at Gamescom last month, and other reports suggest the new console will be as portable as the Switch and is targeting a release in the second half of 2024. Maybe we’ll learn about it this straight. Time will answer.
This Nintendo Direct will air at 7 am PT/10 am ET and will run approximately 40 minutes.
