Peacemaker creator, writer, director and executive producer James Gunn announced his engagement to Emilia Harcourt actor Jennifer Holland.
Gunn shared a photo of Holland on Twitter in which the actor can be seen wearing a large engagement ring on her left hand while sipping coffee. The photo was captioned with smirking face and heart emojis.
Gunn and Holland have been an item since 2015. Their first professional collaboration was on 2019’s Brightburn, which Gunn produced and Holland co-starred in as Ms. Espenschied. They worked together again on 2021’s The Suicide Squad, where Holland’s Emilia Harcourt made her DC Extended Universe debut, and she reprised the role for all eight episodes of Peacemaker Season 1. Prior to these projects, Holland was known for her roles in American Horror Story, Bones, Days of Our Lives, Cougar Town, Sun Records and more.
News of Gunn and Holland’s engagement comes hot on the heels of not just the Season 1 finale but the announcement that Peacemaker was picked up for a second season by HBO Max. “Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max,” Gunn said. “To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where Team Peacemaker goes in Season Two!”
Of course, the finale itself also left DCEU fans buzzing, largely due to a Justice League cameo featuring Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash, with stand-ins representing Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. As it turns out, the conspicuously missing Batman and Cyborg were also supposed to be part of the line-up, but Batman stand-in Matt Turner revealed they were cut from the finale. Gunn previously explained, “You know, I don’t know what I can — there are reasons for it, but I’m actually uncertain whether I can say what those reasons are. It might have to do with future stuff.”
Peacemaker Season 1 is available to stream on HBO Max. Season 2 has yet to receive a premiere date.
