This morning, various Xbox and Microsoft documents were leaked online: emails, projects in development, internal details and more. We’ve learned that Xbox boss Phil Spencer considered acquiring Nintendo and Warner Bros. Games at one point, Xbox is planning an Xbox Series X/S refresher for next year that could work on remasters of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Microsoft’s next-gen hybrid in 2028. Has plans for a console.

The leaks were quite extensive and after some online confusion, we learned through this Bloomberg Microsoft accidentally provided confidential (and unredacted) documents to federal courts. Following the news of these leaks, Spencer has now come out with a brief statement on what happened Twitter.

“We saw conversations around old emails and documents,” Spencer writes. “It’s hard to see our team’s work being shared like this because so much has changed and there’s so much to be excited about now and in the future. We’ll share the actual plans when we’re ready.”

He shared it on Twitter, but edge Got a more in-depth memo sent to Xbox employees. Here it is, in full:

“The team

“Today, several documents filed in court proceedings related to our proposed acquisition of Activision Avalanche were intentionally disclosed. Although many of the documents are more than a year old and our plans have evolved, I know this is disappointing.

“I know we all take the privacy of our projects and our partners’ information very seriously. This leak obviously means we’re not living up to that expectation. We’ll learn from what happened and move forward. We all put an incredible amount of passion and energy into our work, and to share that hard work with the community. We never want to. There’s a lot more to be excited about and when we’re ready, we’ll share the actual plan with our players.

“In closing, I appreciate all the work you pour into Team Xbox to surprise and delight our players. In the days and weeks ahead, let’s focus on what we can control: continuing the incredible success of Starfield, the upcoming launch of the incredible and accessible Forza Motorsport, and the games, services and games that millions of players can enjoy. Continuing to build devices. Phil”

It’s worth noting, especially for those particularly curious about what leaked today, that Spencer says in both an internal memo to Xbox employees and a public-facing statement posted to Twitter that these leaked documents and email are out of date and that plans have changed. . He says the team will share “real plans” when ready. Now, they certainly can’t say what’s going on with the leaked information and should be downplayed as a result, but it’s a reminder to take everything that comes to light with a grain of salt as it’s possible plans have changed.
