Rangers boss Michael Bale has insisted he does not need assurances about his future as he demands a good performance to get the season back on track.
It has been a week to forget for the Ibrox outfit heading into the international break With a 5-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven In the Champions League qualifiers, they lost 7-3 on aggregate.
Then they suffered a 1-0 defeat to injury-hit Celtic In their first Old Firm match of the season to leave them in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers return to action on Saturday away to St Johnstone. Live on Sky Sportsat the start of a busy period that includes Europa League matches and the League Cup quarter-finals.
Bale insisted he did not feel any additional pressure but admitted results needed to improve.
“I don’t need guarantees. I’m part of a plan in terms of where we’re going as a club,” he said, confirming that Todd Cantwell will be out for three to four weeks after suffering a knee injury against Celtic.
“At the end of the day, a football coach needs to win football games, we haven’t won the last two games, so we need to get back to winning and we’ve got seven games in 22 days now.
“So this is a good opportunity for us to do that.
“Sometimes small margins can make a big difference in a football match, and I think the latter was the case, but in the end you need to win football matches.
He added: “Last season we won a lot but did not come away with any titles, so this year is about getting titles.
“There has been a lot of change around me during my time as coach and we didn’t start the season the way we wanted to, but there is a lot of football to be played.”
The Rangers support made their feelings clear after the defeat to Celtic with players booed off the pitch throughout.
“They were sharing their frustration, and it was heard loud and clear,” he added.
“I don’t think there is much time to talk now, we need to compensate them on the pitch with performances and some results.
“There was a lot of excitement and expectations going into the season, but so far it has not been met.
“The team needs to show rhythm in the way we play and obviously the new players need to show they are settled.
“The players arrived at different times, but there is no excuse for us being a new team.
“It’s important to see a response now firstly from me, but obviously from the players as well.”
