Super Mega Baseball 4 Legends details have been revealed in a new video

Super Mega Baseball 4 is set to introduce Baseball Legends, redefining the gaming experience for baseball fans. The latest installment in the Super Mega Baseball series will feature historical baseball figures along with Super Mega League All-Stars, continuing the tradition of delivering an enduring baseball experience.

These legends will publish a new league dedicated just to the greats of baseball, placed alongside the Super Mega League and any custom leagues created by players. Not only will The Legends be exclusive to this league, but they will also appear as free agents in Franchise mode when playing with a classic Super Mega League team or a custom team. Furthermore, these Legends will appear in Shuffle Draft, a new feature in SMB4, and will also participate in Pennant Race mode as the weekly Ringers in the Super Mega League.

The team at Metalhead considered the opportunity to incorporate real-life star power into the series after joining EA Sports. While the Super Mega Baseball series has traditionally revolved around fantasy content, integrating real-world players presents a unique design challenge.

The team realized that immortality in Super Mega Baseball was key. Since the game is not tied to real world events in the sport, it will never feel outdated. This timeless appeal led to the decision to introduce legendary players from multiple eras of baseball history, perfectly in keeping with the core of the series.

In association with the Major League Baseball Alumni Association, Super Mega Baseball 4 will feature over 200 baseball legends, including such notable players as David “Big Poppy” Ortiz, Jose “Joey bats” Bautista, Babe “The Sultan of Swat” Ruth, and Willie “Say kid” Mays.

Recognizing players’ connection to the fictional teams and characters they’ve spent time with over the years, the developers have maximized flexibility. Players can enjoy any combination of Legends, Super Mega League, or custom players and teams.

The Legends will be featured in the all-new Legends League, an additional merged league that sits alongside the classic Super Mega League. This league would consist of eight teams, organized into two conferences based on the era, allowing players from different baseball eras to compete against each other.

Several other game modes allow players to interact with a mix of Legends players, classic Super Mega players, or their own custom players. For example, in Franchise mode, players can enter Legends into the league over time as free agents. The new Shuffle Draft feature allows all players in the league to be re-drafted, choosing from a pool of Legends, Super Mega League players, and custom players. This League, with its new rosters, can then be used in Franchise or Season mode.

In Pennant Race mode, four legends will race each Super Mega League team. Players will have to think about which team benefits the most from these four players and combine them in building their squad for each game. This approach replaces the system in SMB3, where changes to players’ mojo and physique differed from race to race.

To get a head start on the action, players can Pre-order EA SPORTS Super Mega Baseball 4 Ballpark Edition Three days for early access. However, this early access is not available for Nintendo Switch, and the pre-order offer is only valid in the US and Canada for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms.
