About beta
the “Foamstars The Open Beta Party invites PlayStation 5 players to experience the chaotic, over-the-top competitive shooter ahead of its official release in early 2024. Access to the beta is free and available to download from the PlayStation Store when live.
As a thank you to each player who participated in the open beta, an exclusive cosmetic item will be given to the Soa character when they download the full game at launch.

How to join the beta
download “Foamstars Open the Beta Party game program via the PlayStation Store and play the game on your PlayStation 5 console during the event period to participate for free. A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to join the open beta.

Foamstars Players embark on the ultimate online shooter, pitting teams of up to 4 against each other in an accessible foam-based gameplay experience! Prepare to experience a small portion of what Foamstars provided, while simultaneously testing the capabilities of our servers ahead of the game’s next launch in 2024.
In the next “Foamstars Open Beta Party, players will experience two different four-on-four game modes and choose from eight diverse and vibrant characters, each with their own play style, specialized weapons and unique game-changing skills. Since foam is every competitor’s weapon of choice, players must master the game’s foam crossing and building mechanics to build, fend off, and outmaneuver their opponents to achieve victory.

The two game modes are:
- Crush the star – Compete in a frenetic battle where the winning strategy changes as the match progresses. In SMASH THE STAR, each team must fight to ensure seven knockouts for the opposing team. Once this is achieved, the best player is chosen as the “Star Player” and becomes the key to victory! To win the match, teams must defeat the opposing team’s “Star Player” while also protecting their own players!
- Happy pigeon survival – A battle between two teams consisting of “inside the field” players and “outside” players. Victory is achieved by defeating opposing “Infield” players, while “Outfield” players support and provide defense for their teammates!
Composer and character art design teams have been revealed
Today’s news ends with the reveal that the in-game music was composed by MONACA, and the character design was created by Gurihiru’s team of illustrators.
MONACA is a music production company founded in 2004 by Keiichi Okabe, who has extensive production experience in game music, anime, drama, and film production. Highlights include yoke series and Sinuales. While Gurihiru is an independent animator unit consisting of artist Sasaki and colorist Kawano. They hail from Hokkaido, Japan and have worked extensively in Japan, designing characters for games and anime and drawing book illustrations. Key comedies include It’s Jeff, Gwenpool, Superman Breaks Up the Community, and more.
Foamstars It is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2024.
