The Thaumaturge Launches Later This Year on PC

11 bit studios has shared a new trailer for the upcoming dark fantasy RPG, The Thaumaturge, offering a deeper look into the life of the game’s titular protagonist, Wiktor Szulski. Along with this new preview, 11 bit studios also revealed that fans can expect The Thaumaturge to launch later this year on PC.

Developed by Fool’s Theory, The Thaumaturge promises a narrative-driven RPG experience with a unique take on turn-based combat, character development features, and investigation mechanics. In this game, players will face morally ambiguous choices in a world where mysterious powers and strange ethereal beings exist.

The story of The Thaumaturge unfolds in the year 1905, a time when Warsaw was under the rule of imperial Russian tsardom. Thaumaturges, known as individuals who inherited skills in taming spirit-like beings called Salutors, coexist with residents of Warsaw who come from different ancestries. This mystical inheritance significantly shapes the life of Wiktor Szulski as it allows him to use the Salutor’s abilities to discover secrets hidden within the human soul and speak to the Darkness.

In the recently revealed trailer, Wiktor was shown engrossed in reading a letter from his sister, with her voice narrating the content of the letter in the background as the trailer goes on. The letter indicates that Wiktor and his family were apart, with his sister staying in his Warsaw, while he travels to some distant lands, risking his life in search of otherworldly beings and their hosts.

The heartfelt letter also revealed the belief of Wiktor’s sister that it is best that she does not share the gift with him and their father. She then begs Wiktor to return to his family and reconcile with their father before it is too late.

Along with the letter, the trailer also showcased the vibrant streets of old Warsaw as well as a glimpse at the terrifying Salutors that players may encounter.

As of now, the exact release date for The Thaumaturge is unknown, although eager fans can add the game on their Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG wishlist to be notified as soon as it becomes available.
