Millions unable to make payments because of Nationwide SNAP, EBT outage

On Sunday, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program was down all over the country.

This meant that more than a million people couldn't pay for things at stores with their Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.

On Sunday, agencies in Massachusetts and South Carolina said that customers can't use their EBT cards to buy things.

Sunday, the South Carolina Department of Social Services tweeted that it is aware of problems with how EBT cards are being processed.

"A third-party processor outage is affecting programmes in multiple states," which explains the problem.

Later, the department tweeted that all systems were back up and running, which fixed the processing problems.

In a tweet, the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance also said that the state's EBT card processing was affected. Later, the department said that the problem had been fixed.
