Among the best reviews – you can read Game Informers Right here – and with excellent sales that led to Nintendo having a record-breaking quarter, there’s no question The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a success for Nintendo. Despite that success, it seems the company is moving on from Hyrule, with Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma revealing that there will be no DLC for the game.
He told a Japanese magazine Famitsu In a new interview as translated Genki_JPN on Twitter. Based on his comments, the team behind TOTK may be heading to a new Zelda game in a new Hyrule.
“We don’t have any plans to release additional content this time, but we think we’ve done everything we can to create a game in that world,” Aonuma said. Famitsu, according to Jenki. “At this point, we decided to make a sequel to the previous game in the first place because we felt it was worth experiencing new ways to play in Hyrule. If such causes arise, we may return to the same world. Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it’s going to be a completely new way to play, so I hope you’ll look forward to it.
said TOTK director Hidemaro Fujibayashi Famitsu“We are very grateful that so many customers have been playing Tears of the Kingdom so long and so deeply, so we will do our best to make the next title even more enjoyable,” said Genki.
The door is open for Aonuma to return to Hyrule, of course — Hyrule has made Nintendo a lot of money, after all — but it’s clear the team is planning to branch out into a different, perhaps entirely new, branch. The Zelda series. Only time will tell, and if TOTK’s development is anything to go by, it could be years before we know more.
