Alfa Romeo has announced that Zhou Guanyu will retain his seat with the team next year alongside Valtteri Bottas.
Zhou, who is 16th in the Drivers’ Championship, joined the grid in 2022 and will spend a third season at the team. He is the only Chinese driver to have competed in Formula 1.
Bottas is just two points ahead of Zhou in the standings ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix – live Sky Sports F1.
Current Formula 2 championship leader Theo Bourchier has been linked with taking Cho’s seat, but he will be the team’s reserve driver in 2023.
Alfa Romeo will end its title sponsorship with Sauber at the end of this year, with the team set to revert to the Sauber name from 2024.

Bottas added: “I have a feeling we have an exciting journey ahead of us, so I’m happy and grateful to be able to look forward to 2024 and see how the team shapes up.
“There is a good atmosphere within our team, I agree with Zhou and we are both pushing each other hard to improve. There is a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes, at Henwell and beyond, and now that the squad for next year is set, we can fully focus on improving, starting with This weekend in Singapore already.
“Every step forward we take is a step forward for this year and next, so we’re excited to give it our all every time we’re trackside or in the factory.”
