Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Hidden Codex is a Viking-centric graphic novel out next April.

Game Informer Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can be exclusively revealed: The Hidden Codex, a new graphic novel from Dark Horse Books that brings players back to the assassin Ivor, the medieval Nordic land, the new Hidden Order and more. It will be released as a hardcover graphic novel on April 30, 2024 in retail stores and online for $19.99 (and it will hit comic book stores on May 1, 2024). Written by Matthew Gabella, with art by Paolo Treschi.

The Hidden Codex follows Edward, a writer and reluctant monk after he escapes a kidnapping by a Viking clan. After securing his freedom, Edward discovers that his brother is missing and that the strange documents are “blacked out in a language he naturally understands”.

“No one knows where these mysterious-looking symbols came from, but Edward had seen such writings before: in the workshop of a mysterious wise man among the Vikings who were part of a secret order: the Unseen,” the press release reads. “An order that can give Edward answers, and guarantee his aspirations for freedom and knowledge. But with that knowledge, can he find and save his own brother before it’s too late?”

Ubisoft Senior Transmedia Content Manager Etienne Bouvier says the company is fortunate to work with Gabella and Traisky, as they are two longtime fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise who have poured their love and knowledge of the book into the book.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Hidden Codex will hit bookstores and online retailers on April 30, 2024, before hitting comic book stores on May 1. It is available for preorder now and costs $19.99.
