Fortnite becomes an Olympic esport in the inaugural Olympic Esports Week

Olympic Esports Week is a four-day virtual esports festival Games established by the International Olympic Committee and held in Singapore. One of the highlights of the week will be the live finals of the 2023 Olympic Esports Series. This global virtual sports competition and simulation is organized by the International Olympic Committee in collaboration with International Federations (IFs) and game publishers. Qualification rounds for baseball, chess, motorsport and sailing are already underway, with competitors vying for a chance to compete in the finals in Singapore and claim the coveted title of e-Olympic Series winner.

ISSF’s Shooting Sport Island, created within Fortnite, has been added to the Olympic Esports Finals lineup. The event will invite 12 players from the 2023 Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) tournament to compete on the global stage. Designed to resemble a sports shooting competition, Fortnite Creative Island will challenge players’ aiming accuracy and navigation skills in the game environment as they compete to win the e-Olympics Series. The Finals will be broadcast worldwide on and the Olympic Social Channels.

Tickets for Olympic Esports Week are now available, with general admission starting at S$10 per day and three-day passes available from S$20. In recognition of Visa’s long-standing partnership with the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Visa is the official and preferred payment method for Olympic Esports Week tickets.

Ticket holders can attend a full schedule of events during Olympic Esports Week, including the Olympic Esports Series Live Finals, a free-to-play zone featuring the latest virtual sports, games, esports innovations, showcase matches via NBA 2K23 and Eleven table tennis, and more.

Olympic Week has the support of global Olympic partners, including Allianz, which will bring MoveNow Camp to Singapore with a new esports edition. Registration is now open for 14-17-year-olds from all over Asia, with 30 individuals invited to take part in the camp during Olympic Esports Week 2023. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills in iconic games such as Rocket League and Gran Turismo, along with Professional esports coaching, mental and physical health activities, and mentoring opportunities.

Olympic Esports Week marks another step in supporting the development of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement, as outlined in the 2020+5 Olympic Agenda, and continues the Movement’s collaboration with the gaming and esports communities to create new opportunities for gamers and fans alike.
