Grand Theft Auto VI is targeting a fall 2025 release window

Grand Theft Auto VI’s reveal last December sent fans into a frenzy, but its then-distant 2025 release window immediately dampened that excitement. While we’re in the middle of 2024 it looks like the launch is now more in reach, we’ll have to wait another full year before playing it.

Publisher Take-Two released it 2024 year-end financial report Today (thanks, PC gamer), in which it says that Rockstar is targeting a fall 2025 release window for GTA VI. These times are reiterated in the publisher’s 2025 releases calendar posted below.

Regarding GTA VI, Take-Two says, “We are very confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience and our expectations for the title’s commercial impact continue to rise.” The game is slated to release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version is yet to be mentioned.

Grand Theft Auto VI takes players to modern-day Vice City (a parody of the franchise’s Miami, FL) and two protagonists, a female inmate named Lucia and her as-yet-unnamed male criminal partner. To say expectations were high would be an understatement; The premiere trailer broke the YouTube record by garnering 100 million views in just 24 hours.
