How to move BOTW save to new Switch through the Cloud

Becoming a paying subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online makes this a breeze as it’s as simple as syncing up both consoles on the Cloud. Doing this will make moving between the two a seamless transition. This can be done by going to Settings, Data Management, and Save Data Cloud Backup.

If you want to move your save files over without using the Cloud, there is a different route you can take. Unlike Nintendo games from the the cartridge eras, the saves aren’t stored on the Breath of the Wild cartridge itself, so players will have to move things over digitally.

How to transfer BOTW save to another Switch

Another route to go would be setting up both Switches, and then going through the transferring and receiving steps. This does delete the save on the original console, so you won’t be able to play BOTW on the old Switch anymore.

To do this. go into System Settings, Data Management, and then Transfer Your Save Data. Select the Send Save Date to Another Console setting and choose Breath of the Wild. On the second Switch, go through the same steps but select the receive save data option instead.
