Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has only been available for three days, but the critically acclaimed sequel is already the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in the brand’s history.
A Press release, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game sold 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours of release. The publisher didn’t provide a breakdown in terms of physical vs digital, but it’s an impressive number for a PS5 exclusive.
This feat continues the series’ record-setting trend; 2018’s Spider-Man became the fastest-selling first-party PS title at the time (selling 3.3 million in the first three days of launch specifically for PS4) and subsequently became the best-selling superhero game of all time in the US, a record it still holds today. Time will tell if this sequel can replace its predecessor, but regardless, it’s off to a strong start.
