PlayStation Walks Back Helldivers 2 changes, no need to link PSN account

Update, 5/6/2024:

PlayStation does not require Helldivers 2 players to link their Steam accounts to PlayStation Network accounts. This leads to Helldivers 2 dropping from a “Mostly Positive”-rated game on Steam, after days of unrest among players. “Mixed” for all reviews and “Mostly negative” for recent reviews.. As a result the first Helldivers also started getting bad reviews, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studio, according to the developer John Pillstead.

“Helldivers fans – we’ve asked for your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update,” a Post X (formerly Twitter) reads Made Today. “The May 6 update, which required linking a Steam and PlayStation Network account for new players and starting May 30 for current players, will not continue.

“We’re still learning what’s best for PC players and your feedback is invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans.”

Following the news, Pilestedt took to X to thank PlayStation for the change while noting how impressed he was with the Helldivers 2 community.

With this change not moving forward, the Helldivers 2 community can hopefully return to killing bugs and automatons in the name of democracy, no need for linked accounts or review bombs.
