Original story, 5/10/24:

Dead Cell developer Evil Empire has delayed its upcoming roguelike, The Rogue Prince of Persia, due to Hades II. Originally in PC Early Access on Tuesday, May 14th, Evil Empire has delayed the game until later this month to give potential players more time with Hades II, another roguelike that hit early access this week (and it’s latest cover Game Informer newspaper).

“So it’s been a bit of a crazy week for us,” A statement Reads from Evil Empire. “It all started when a little game called Hades II was released – maybe you’ve heard of it? Seeing that everyone and their mums were playing that game (including our whole team…and their mums), we decided to give people a chance before we released The Rogue Prince of Persia. Have fun with it.

“We’ll still release in May and come back with an exact date on Monday. While we have full confidence in The Rogue Prince of Persia, it’s not every day that a game of the same genre as you does. The most anticipated upcoming games of 2024 will be released into early access a week before you plan to do the same, its We are not too proud to ignore the consequences and we truly believe that this short delay is a good decision for us and our early access journey.”

The team says this extra time will be used to further polish Rogue Prince of Persia, add “even more cool stuff” and fix some bugs. This is because the first day patch of the game is getting bigger and this extra time gives the team more time to test it (and consequently less team stress).
