Rumour: Assassin’s Creed Mirage launching on Infinity platform

[ad_1]

post on GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit May reveal information from the latest issue of Jeux Video magazine, one of the most popular video game publications in France, which states that the next Assassin’s Creed Mirage game will be released on the Infinity platform. This would make it the first Assassin’s Creed game to debut on Infinity, instead of the previously announced Codename Red.

in Interview with IGN, it was explained that Assassin’s Creed Infinity is a platform designed to host various games of the series, ranging from different genres and lengths. It aims to combine full-price premium games with free and paid content, offering a multiplayer mode that bridges the different eras of the franchise. In addition, Infinity will serve as a new home for the modern Assassin’s Creed story.

Infinity is not a traditional video game or a replacement for the main entries in the series. Instead, it will act as a hub for past and future Assassin’s Creed games, which was thought to start with Codename Red, a Shinobi-themed RPG set for release sometime in the future. Infinity will display new entries as a memory DNA, rather than a simple library of games, like Steam or Ubisoft Connect.

Côté, Vice President and Executive Producer of Assassin’s Creed, confirmed that Codename Red can be purchased as a boxed product, but when the game launches, the first thing players see will be the Infinity Hub. As the platform evolves, additional games, such as Codename Hexe, will become available as memories for players to explore.

The modern Infinity story or “meta” will be separate from the main games, which will now only be set in the past. Côté noted that the way the meta story is told will change over time, as players assume the role of the main story character through their desktop Animus.

Côté also made it clear that not all future games that will be released on Infinity will be traditional RPGs like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Codename Hexe, for example, would be a different kind of game, marking the beginning of a less formulaic period for the series. The Infinity platform will allow the creation of various experiences, varying in size and type, and some of them may be freely available.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be the thirteenth main installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, following 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The game will take place during the Islamic Golden Age in 9th century Baghdad and will focus on a character by the name of Ben Ishaq, who was first introduced in Valhalla. Mirage will return to the series’ roots, focusing on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay over role-playing and open-world elements.

The game is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Amazon Luna in 2023.
