A legend reborn

Digital eclipses Sorcery: Testing Ground of the Mad Overlord revival is built directly on the code of the original Apple II game, preserving the appeal of the classic while incorporating modern graphics and improved party management, navigation, spellcasting and combat.

While the new version may look, sound and feel completely new, the original Apple II game is under the hood; You can even see the original interface while playing.

Create your own party of adventurers and delve into the labyrinth at the behest of the mad overlord Trebor, in search of the amulet stolen by the evil wizard Werdna. Fight challenging monsters, avoid hidden traps and find your way through the dungeon for the ultimate showdown with Werdna himself.

An early access hit

The PC version of Sorcery: Testing Ground of the Mad Overlord has been available through Early Access since September 2023, where it currently has a “Very Positive” review score on Steam and 4 out of 5 stars on GOG. Enthusiastic player feedback contributed to numerous improvements to the final game, including:

About Sorcery

Created in 1981, Sorcery: Testing Ground of the Mad Overlord It was the first game that recreated pencil and paper, Dungeons and Dragons-Style role-playing game for home computers. Seven sequels followed over the next two decades, all published by Sir-Tech.

Digital Eclipse has now licensed the Wizardry trademark from Drecom and the copyright to Sorcery: Testing Ground of the Mad Overlord from Sir-Tech, to develop a new version built directly on the original Apple II codebase.
