The Rogue Prince of Persia Early Access Delayed Until Late May

Publisher Ubisoft and developer Evil Empire have delayed the early access release of the recently announced The Rebel Prince of Persia from May 14 until a little later in May. The exact date will be announced on May 13.

According to the development team, the delay is due to the surprise release of Hades IIEarly access on May 6.

“Seeing that everyone and their mom is playing that game (including our entire team…and their moms), we decided to let people have fun with it before we release it. The Rebel Prince of Persia” reads a statement from Evil Empire.

“While we have full confidence in The Rebel Prince of PersiaIt’s not every day that a game in the same genre as you, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2024, will be released in early access a week before you plan to do the same.

“We’re not proud enough to ignore the implications of this, and we truly believe this short delay is the best decision for us and our Early Access journey.”

The Rebel Prince of Persia will be available for PC via Steam.

Hello everyone,

It’s been a bit of a crazy week for us! It all started when a little game called Hades II released, is it possible that you have heard of him?

Since everyone and their mom is playing that game (including our entire team…and their moms), we decided to let people have fun with it before we release it. The Rebel Prince of Persia.

We will continue launching in May and will return with a precise date on Monday.

Although we have full confidence in The Rebel Prince of PersiaIt’s not every day that a game in the same genre as you, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2024, will be released in early access a week before you plan to do the same.

We’re not proud enough to ignore the implications of this and truly believe this short delay is the best decision for us and our Early Access journey.

We also want to give Hades II a head start before you start running, that’s fair 😉

This also allows us to continue polishing the game, add even more cool stuff, and fix some tough bugs before launch. The day 1 patch was getting pretty heavy, so buying more time to test it and add more things before release day has already greatly reduced the stress levels of our producer and game director.

We completely understand that this is upsetting news for everyone who was eager to play, especially so close to the anticipated release. We can only throw up our hands, apologize and hope they understand.

It will be worth the wait!

Thank you for your patience,
Matt and the Evil Empire team
