Nintendo will announce the successor to the Switch within this fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2025, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said in a statement.
A Nintendo Direct will take place in June, but it will focus on the Switch software lineup for the second half of 2024 and will not include any mention of the Switch successor.
Here is Furukawa’s full statement:
“This is [Shuntaro] Furukawa, president of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been more than nine years since we announced the existence of the Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.
“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June about the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the second half of 2024, but please note that the Nintendo Switch successor will not be mentioned during that presentation.”
