After a day or two of playing Honkai: Star Rail, you’re likely to have obtained your first Five-Star Character. Likely that unit will be one of the characters featured on the Standard Warp Banner. You’re best bet in the early game is to build a team around them. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we can help. Here are the best team comps for each Standard Five-Star Character in Honkai: Star Rail.
Best Team Comps for each Standard Five-Star Character in Honkai Star Rail
There are seven different Standard Five-Star Characters you can obtain from the Standard Warp Banner in Honkai: Star Rail. You are guaranteed to obtain one of them within 50 pulls in the Departure Warp Banner, which we think you ought to pull on. You’ll also have your choice of a free Five-Star unit after pulling in the Standard Banner 300 times.
Best Team Comps for Himeko in Honkai Star Rail
Himeko is a Fire and Erudition Character that has access to a powerful Follow-Up attack and can easily apply the Burn Effect to most enemies. She pairs really well with other Fire four-star characters, and those that also have a Follow-Up attack, particularly when used in the Simulated Universe. Don’t forget your sustaining characters, though. Here’s an example of some Team Comps:
- Himeko, Natasha, Asta, Hook
- Fire Trailblazer, Himeko, Herta, March 7th
Best Team Comps for Clara in Honkai Star Rail
Clara’s best teammate is unquestionably March 7th. She need’s March’s shield to taunt enemies towards her and take advantage of powerful follow-up attacks. Other than March, plan to pair her with other Physical or Harmony characters that can boost her damage, like Tingyun. Here’s an example of some Team Comps:
- Clara, Natasha, Sushang, March 7th
- Clara, Natasha, Tingyun, March 7th

Best Team Comps for Yanqing in Honkai Star Rail
Yanqing is an Ice Element character who follows the path of The Hunt. He can be a bit squishy, so shields will be essential for this character. Here again, March 7th will be your free option to fill this role. (Seeing a pattern?) Other Ice and Supports units go well with Yanqing, like Pela. Here’s an example of a Team Comp:
- March 7th, Yanqing, Pela, Tignyun / Herta
Best Team Comps for Welt in Honkai Star Rail
Welt is a Nihility Imaginary Element character that specializes in slowing enemy turns. Because of this, he synergizes well with Dan Heng, whose damage is boosted when attacking Slowed characters. Welt is the only Imaginary character in the game right now. Pairing him with other characters is a bit tricky at the moment because of this. He does work well with other Nihility characters in the Simulated Universe. Here’s an example of a Team Comp:
- Natasha, Welt, Dan Heng, Pela

Best Team Comps for Bailu in Honkai Star Rail
Bailu is a pretty universal character in a lot of team comps, as she largely replaces Natasha. She pairs especially well with other Lightening characters such as Serval. Be wary of using her with Arlan, as he does better with shielders than healers. Here’s an example of a Team Comp:
- Serval, Bailu, Tingyun, Sushang
Best Team Comps for Gepard in Honkai Star Rail
Gepard replaces March 7th as a shielder, but oddly enough she does very well as a Sub-DPS unit paired with Gepard if built to prioritize her Follow-up attacks and Ultimate. Otherwise, he can again be a universal sustaining unit like Bailu, if necessary. Here’s an example of a Team Comp:
- Gepard, Herta, Pela, March 7th
Best Team Comps for Bronya in Honkai Star Rail
Bronya doesn’t have very definitive Team Comps because she is such a powerful universal boost to any an all DPS characters. Slot her in any team to make them hit harder and quicker. She is a Wind Element character, so pairing her with Dan Heng will go especially well. Here’s just one example of a Team Comp she can slot into:
- Dan Heng, Bronya, Natasha, Sushang
