Puzzle Games Officially going to release four brand new collections with supplement Donkey Kong The theme is August 1st, 2023. It will include the Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam Expansion Set, the Donkey Kong’s Tree House expansion set, the Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set, and the smaller Rambi the Rhino Expansion Set. The sets will be available worldwide, and were officially revealed on the LEGO Twitter feed:

Donkey Kong has been a fan-favorite character since the 1980s arcade classic, and its popularity may have only increased after the exhilarating game Super Mario Bros movie. The natural friction between the two characters was very interesting. However, the rest of Kong’s extended family haven’t gotten any real screen time, and it’s great to see them represented here.

All of the LEGO Kongs counterparts are charming and faithfully capture their looks. Also, the environments chosen for each set match their larger-than-life characters and include key references that longtime fans should enjoy.

Clearly LEGO makes the most of the crossover in the nitty-gritty of the sets. But the mechanics themselves do not offer anything revolutionary, and they still have approximately the same level of potential interaction.

Of course, Mine Cart Ride is the real standout, combining unique verticals and angles. It feels both energetic and timeless, without letting all the neutrals make things look bland.

However, larger groups do not automatically outperform. The designers cleverly avoid too many straight lines, properly representing Kong’s home in the Tree House expansion with its warm, whimsical charm.

LEGO has also recently partnered with sonic the hedgehog He has four sets of his own, which focus more on movement and speed. But the sets revealed today are nostalgic and worthwhile additions to the long-running LEGO Super Mario levels.
