Multiclassing can be a great way to make your character more versatile and get some new abilities. With so many different multiclassing possibilities, it can get overwhelming trying to find builds that work well. I like to try different builds to see if they are viable and fun to play. One of the best multiclass builds I have tried is a Warlock Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3.

A Warlock Rogue multiclass can combine Sneak Attack with Eldritch Blast to dish out lots of damage and keep out of danger. Warlock Rogues can also have great utility and can be the face of the party with high charisma.

Best Stats for Warlock Rogue Build in BG3

Warlock Rogues need high Charisma for their spellcasting modifier and for dialogue checks. You will also want to have high Dexerity for weapon attacks and Initiative, and a moderately high Constitution will help with health and concentration checks. Here are the best stats for a Warlock Rogue.

  • Strength: 8
  • Dexterity: 16
  • Constitution: 14
  • Wisdom: 10
  • Intelligence: 8
  • Charisma: 17

How to build a Warlock Rogue in BG3

One of the best things about creating a Warlock Rogue multiclass is that many of the subclasses work well together, meaning there are different routes you can take to building a Warlock Rogue. For the best build possible, you will want to focus on upgrading your Eldritch Blast and Sneak Attack damage.

For this build, you will want to take at least 5 levels of Warlock and select The Fiend as your subclass, then select Pact of the Blade to unlock an extra attack at Level 5. For your Eldritch Invocations, the best options are Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast.

You can dip into Rogue early on to get Sneak Attack and continue to level Rogue to upgrade your Sneak Attack and unlock the other important class abilities like Cunning Action and Uncanny Dodge. To make Eldtrich Blast work with Sneak Attack, you must be wielding a finesse weapon you are proficient with. You should then be able to add your Sneak Attack damage to Eldtrich Blasts if you have Advantage on the attack.

Best Feats for a Warlock Rogue in BG3

Since a Rogue Warlock will be focusing on hiding and Eldritch Blast, there are a few feats that will help you improve in combat. For this build, you will only have two choices of feats, so make sure you choose ones that mesh well with your playstyle and party needs.

Feat Description
Ability Score Improvement You increase one Ability by 2, or two Abilities by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Moderately Armoured You gain Armour Proficiency with Medium Armour and shields, and your Strength or Dexterity increases by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Spell Sniper You learn a cantrip, and the number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking with a spell is reduced by 1. This effect can stack.
War Caster You gain Advantage on Saving Throws to maintain Concentration on a spell.
You can also use a reaction to cast Shocking Grasp at a target moving out of melee range.

An Ability Score Improvement is a great choice for a feat, as you can increase your Charisma to 18 or 19, which is very important for the build. You can grab Moderately Armoured if you want to increase your AC with Medium Armor and a Dexterity boost. Spell Sniper is another great choice that can boost your ability to crit with Eldritch Blast. War Caster can be a good option if you want some help keeping Hex Concentration on enemies.

A Rogue Warlock can be an extremely fun build to use that is capable of high damage output. You will be able to use stealth, disarm traps, and lockpick as a rogue, all while being great at persuasion and dialogue.
